IMG_2267I know … I know… all titles these days sound similar with 3 things to do, 5 steps to consider and …. you know…so on and so forth.

But as a woman who has recently embarked on the journey to motherhood, I can say with experience that these 3 things really helped me where I am today… a contented woman who is loved and cherished and so ready to be a mother.

1) Marry the one: Sounds easy but requires deep soul-searching . Know yourself, truly, madly , deeply. Understand who you truly are as a person, spend time nurturing yourself into a good human being. Only a good human being attracts another to itself. (more…)

The body has three ways of producing ATP: from creatine phosphate, anaerobic cellular respiration and aerobic cellular respiration. (Jenkins et all, 2007) At rest, the muscle fiber produce more ATP than is required by the body. This excess ATP is used to synthesize creatine phosphate – an energy rich molecule found only in the muscle fiber. Creatine is a small molecule that muscle cells assemble from fragments of amino acids. (Martini, 2008)  The enzyme creatine kinase catalyzes muscles fibers to break down excess ATP and transfer a phosphate group to creatine, forming creatine phosphate and ADP. The human body has always fascinated me and as I have sat in the Anatomy and Physiology class the last few months, I have had several ‘aha’ moments. The co-dependence of the different systems of the body to regulate and maintain the body’s proper functioning that extends to the cellular level of the body has completely amazed me.  It is hence not hard to conclude that no man-made system can be compared to the human body in its inherent complexity and perfection. How many different diet plans have you heard of and read in the past where you’ve been asked to eliminate carbohydrates- without a clear distinction between the ‘good’ vs. ‘bad’ carbohydrates – either completely or limit it to a minuscule amount in your diet to lose weight? In today’s day and age when it is hard enough to fathom what will happen in the next minute, attempting to predict what my life will be like at the age of 75 and above is highly difficult. But I do think that it is important, as it will allow me to plan for my old age better. As a firm believer of the power of visualization, writing what life will be like in my later years would only make my vision into reality. If I can visualize myself aging healthy, the possibility of that happening is greater and I will like to take necessary steps starting now to achieve that goal. (more…)
